The 2nd Consortium Meeting of the BSB01005 (Cooperation through Tech-Based Practices to Struggle Invasive Species and Climate Change for a Sustainable and Resilient Agriculture, (AGRICOOP) project, supported under the European Union (EU) Interreg VI-B NEXT Black Sea Basin Programme and in which Ondokuz Mayıs University is a partner, was held on July 16-17, 2026 in Varna, Bulgaria, hosted by the Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA). OMU was represented at the meeting by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kibar AK from the Hemp Research Institute and Research Assistant Dr. Furkan Harun Baş from the Department of Plant Protection, Faculty of Agriculture. Also attending the meeting were Trabzon Commodity Exchange (TCE - Project Leader), Varna Economic Development Agency (VEDA - Partner) from Bulgaria, and from Georgia. The project team from Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University (BSU-Partner) was joined by Karadeniz Technical University Rector Prof. Dr. Hamdullah Çuvalcı, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ömer Faruk Ursavaş, and Trabzon Chamber of Commerce President Eyyüp Ergan.
This project, based on the Clean and Green Region approach, aims to consider climate change adaptation and disaster risk prevention, resilience, and ecosystem-based approaches. Invasive species and their relationship with climate change are being researched in each partner country. The total budget for the project, named BSB01005, is approximately €506,000, of which approximately €455,000 is covered by the program.
